BOHOL ISLAND STATE UNIVERSITY
Bohol Island State University (BISU), formerly the Central Visayas State College of Agriculture, Forestry and Technology (CVSCAFT), is a public institution of higher learning in Bohol, Philippines. The institution operates campuses spread throughout the province, with the main campus in Tagbilaran city, Bohol.
By virtue of Republic Act No. 9722 (An Act Converting the Central Visayas State College of Agriculture, Forestry and Technology, its Units and Satellite Campuses in the City of Tagbilaran and in the Municipalities of Bilar, Candijay, Clarin, Calape and Balilihan, All Located in the Province of Bohol to Be Known as the Bohol Island State University (BISU) and Appropriating Funds Therefor) CVSCAFT became BISU, the third university on the province of Bohol and the first State university. The Bill was authored by Congressmen Nerio Uayan, Roberto Cajes, Adam Relson Jala, Cynthia Villar and Junie Cua on February 16, 2009. It was approved by the Senate on August 18, 2009. President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo signed the bill into law on October 14, 2009, and it took effect on November 9, 2009.
Bohol Island State University undoubtedly placed top 9 in the number one and the most comprehensive directory of colleges and universities in the Philippines, the FINDUNIVERSITY.ph http://www.finduniversity.ph/philippine-universities-ranking/. The website ranked the universities based on the different Li-censure Examinations and Board Exam results in the country. This is not new since the Bohol Island State University always shine specially in Engineering and Education Courses. In fact last 2014, Mechanical Engineer GREMERSON IDULSA ALADAD got the 1st place of the Topnotchers for Mechanical Engineering who scored 93.80 % . The university always belong to the Top Performing Universities for LET Passers in the country for 4 consecutive years now and as of last year they placed 2nd for the Elementary Education.
As one of the leading university in the country, the BISU System served not only Boholanos but also those from the neighboring provinces in the Visayas and Mindanao. It continually produced graduates who became leaders in the community, managers and directors in many corporate organizations, experts and consultants in various technological fields, and administrators in educational institutions. She took pride in harnessing graduates who top board examinations, students under On-the-Jib Training (OJT) Programs who are absorbed directly by their cooperating companies and sent abroad further training and deployment, and other successful graduates who worked their way to prove true to the vision, mission, and goals of the institution, thus, making the difference.
